Why we built Pluto

Pluto Systems was founded in April 2022 by deeply technical software engineers obsessed with building exceptional systems. From the beginning, it was developed alongside experienced real estate professionals inside a live, high-performance sales environment.

The initial vision was conceived and prototyped by Kent Sillars within his development company, Vesta Properties. Since then, Pluto has evolved significantly, shaped by real transactions, real teams, and real operational complexity. Whether managing single-family homes, high-density residential projects, or master-planned communities, the platform was built to handle the realities of modern development sales.

One of Pluto’s greatest strengths is that it was refined inside Vesta Properties’ active sales operations. This gave us the unique opportunity to validate, stress-test, and continuously improve the system in real time. Every decision was made to eliminate redundant workflows, surface live data instantly, and provide full control and visibility across developers, sales teams, and buyers.

We understand these pressures because we experienced them firsthand.

Pluto is the system you implement when your current process can no longer scale. It replaces fragile workflows with structure, visibility, and control, so growth doesn’t create chaos.

Meet the team

Scott Kemperman

Co-Founder & CEO

With over 16 years of experience in software development and 8 years in senior leadership roles, Scott has built his career at the intersection of engineering precision and operational clarity.

Before founding Pluto, Scott led complex software initiatives across high-stakes environments, where performance, accuracy, clarity, and scalability weren’t optional, they were expected. That has instilled in him the belief that great software isn’t about features, it’s about control, clarity, and trust.

Scott is deeply passionate about building systems that actually work, and empower teams to move faster with confidence. Under his leadership, Pluto was architected from the ground up to solve the real operational challenges real-estate developers and sales teams face: disconnected tools, fragmented sales processes, and tools that weren’t designed for high-performance real-estate sales.

Bret Getz

Co-Founder & CTO

Before co-founding Pluto Systems, Bret built his career in embedded software and hardware systems, working in environments where reliability and performance were non-negotiable.

His technical foundation began long before formal education as software was both a hobby and a discipline well before it became a profession.

Bret’s expertise spans system architecture, infrastructure design, performance optimization, and applied AI. He approaches software with a bias toward determinism over magic, simplicity over abstraction, and confirmed workflows over assumptions. Systems should behave predictably, scale intentionally, and expose their logic clearly,  not obscure it behind convenience.

As CTO, Bret remains hands-on. He writes code, leads architectural decisions, oversees infrastructure and DevOps strategy, guides hiring, and drives Pluto’s AI direction. His focus is ensuring the platform remains technically coherent, scalable, and grounded in real operational workflows rather than feature accumulation.

Kent Sillars

Co-Founder & Strategic Advisor

Kent has been involved in the development and construction of residential real estate communities in BC and Alberta since 1989.

In addition to Pluto Systems, Kent is also the founder and President of The Vesta Group of Companies, and a current Director of Tier Construction Ltd., a road building contractor launched in 2013. Kent’s primary role is to provide leadership and strategic direction. 

For the past 25 years, Kent has been an active member of the HAVAN (Home Builders Association Vancouver), including serving on the Board of Directors for 5 years. Kent is also a member of the North American Home Builders Association, Calgary Home Builders Association and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He served as a Director of Nightshift Ministries for 7 years, and has held positions as Director for two publicly traded companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange.  

Kent holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and a Chartered Accountancy degree.

As seasoned real estate developers and homebuilders ourselves, we’ve lived the challenges—the clunky workflows, scattered data, and time-consuming manual processes that slow progress and create unnecessary stress.

We didn’t just observe the inefficiencies; we felt them firsthand. That’s why we created Pluto Systems—to build the tools we wished we’d had.

How we're different

Pluto is not another generic CRM retrofitted for real estate. It is a construction-first sales operating system built specifically for developers managing live contracts, complex inventory, deposits, upgrades, and cross-team coordination. While most firms still rely on spreadsheets, email threads, and disconnected tools, Pluto centralizes contract management, payment tracking, reporting, and buyer communication into one structured workflow designed for high-volume new construction sales.
